Jamie Donaldson Takes Up PGA Tour ‘Special Temporary Membership’.

In-form Welshman Jamie Donaldson has accepted ‘special temporary membership’ for the remainder of the 2013-14 PGA TOUR season.

Donaldson is the second player to join the Tour as a special temporary member in the last two weeks. France’s Victor Dubuisson, who was runner-up at the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship, did the same last week.

And despite unnecessary criticism in one quarter over his play during last week’s WGC event in Doral, Donaldson became eligible when he earned 257 non-member FedExCup points with his tie for second last Sunday at the Cadillac Championship.

That gave him a total of 378 points in four starts, which was 100 more than the total number of FedExCup points of the player who finished No. 150 on the 2013 FedExCup points list.

As a special temporary member, Donaldson can now accept unlimited sponsor exemptions for the remainder of the season. He can get his 2014-15 PGA TOUR card by earning enough FedExCup points or money as a non-member to finish inside the top 125 in either category at the end of the regular season.

In addition to his 379 Non-Member FedExCup points, Donaldson has earned $976,347. Last year the player who finished No. 125 on the FedExCup and money lists, respectively, at the end of the regular season had earned 369 points and $610,178.

The 39-year-old Donaldson is a two-time winner on the European Tour who currently ranks first on that circuit’s Race to Dubai standings. His tie for second at Doral was his second runner-up finish of the season.

The addition of Donaldson and Dubuisson of France brings the international player count on TOUR to 88 players representing 24 different countries.
